Along with these over the counter products, you should also know that there are some ways that you can use at home in order to whiten your teeth.
But wait, before that you must know why teeth get discolored or yellow.
Why Do The Teeth Change In Color
There are many factors due to which your teeth may become yellow in color. They could be your eating habits or genetics. What you eat and what you drink directly affects the health of your teeth. Genetics also plays its role.
How To Whiten Teeth At Home
Brush Twice A Day
The first advice to whiten the teeth at home is to brush your teeth thoroughly twice a day. Once in the morning and second just before going to bed. It allows you to keep your teeth protected from the effects of harmful foods you are eating throughout the day.
Get Rid Of Bad Habits
All of your efforts will go in vain if you are addicted to the bad lifestyle. Stop smoking if you do and minimize the consumption of sugary substances like chocolates and coffee drinks.
Eat more and more crunchy foods like apples, raw spinach, cucumbers and carrots which continually rub against your teeth removing the stains without causing any damage.
Make Use Of Fruit Peels
Peels of some fruits like banana, oranges, and pomegranate contain potassium which is good for the enamel and also helps to remove the stain.
Rub the inside of banana or orange peels against the teeth for 2 minutes. Leave for a few minutes and then brush normally as you do. Do this on alternate days.
You can also grind the peels of such fruits into powdered form and then brush your teeth with it.
Baking Soda Toothpaste
Baking soda can be used to whiten the teeth in many ways. The simplest way is to add a little baking soda to your regular toothpaste when brushing.
Brush your teeth with a paste containing baking soda for 1 minute and then spit out. Rinse your mouth with water.
The second method is so popular. In this method, you need baking soda and 3% hydrogen peroxide — both the items you can buy from grocery stores.
Mix 1 tbsp of baking soda and 3 drops of hydrogen peroxide. Mix well to make a paste and then gently brush your teeth with paste for 2 minutes. Baking soda is an abrasive so you will have to gargle well.
